Colonial Garden Club holds art show, workshop

Marlborough - Green shoots that can be seen popping up out of brown leaves, buds that are covering trees, and the crocus and daff odils that are already spreading their petals are all indications that a very busy season awaits for the Colonial Garden Club.

Beginning Wednesday May 7, the Garden Club in conjunction with the Marlborough Public Schools Art Department will present "Art in Bloom 2008." Members of the Garden Club will choose a piece of artwork created by a student to complement with their own floral display. The artwork is part of a permanent collection being put together by the art department of the Marlborough Public Schools.

An opening reception will be held Wednesday May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the show will remain on display until Friday May 9. The general public is invited and refreshments will be served. Student artists and their families will be on hand to talk about their artwork and to meet their counterparts from the Garden Club, and the Marlborough High School string ensemble will perform.

On Wednesday May 14, the Garden Club will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Jaworek School on Farm Road at 7 p.m. The program for the evening is a Make 'N Take Perennial Container, with a fairy theme.

For more information or to join the Colonial Garden Club, call Holly Evangelous at 508-481-7383.
