Students receive thank-you from soldiers in Iraq

Shrewsbury – Oak Middle School (OMS) seventh-graders and some of the members of the Leaders of Tomorrow (l to r) Paul Harris, Sam Levine, Chris Traynor, Nicole Fryc, Nicole Marshall, Katie Neece and Maggie Lowe stand next to a display at the school June 6. The photos, letters and an American flag that was flown during a combat mission in Baghdad were sent to the group in appreciation of its recent project. In December the group collected over 400 pounds of donations of items such as food, magazines and letters from OMS students. The items were sent to Shrewsbury native Captain Kevin Andreson, who is currently serving in Iraq. Andreson distributed the packages to the troops in his unit and sent the students the flag, letters and photos with a note of thanks.
