Club thanks community, volunteers, alumni

To the Editor:

This is the time of year when we all take time to reflect and give thanks for our many blessings. This year I want to thank each and every one who worked with the alumni, for your hard work and eff orts put forth to help our community and our kids! Today, I would like to share with you how your efforts have impacted our community and four clubhouses.

On the community side, we have collected and donated $528 and ten boxes of food to our local food pantry. We have also purchased nine holes of disc golf equipment to be installed at Ghiloni Park this spring. This disc golf course will be a new and exciting activity for all ages and families to enjoy. Our goal is to promote family time and fitness. We are now in the process of designing the course with the help of the Recreation Department.

Our clubhouses (Framingham, Hudson, Countryside Village and Pleasant St.) have benefited this week, when their wish lists were fulfilled. We donated more than $4,000 in equipment, that included a computer, 3 Xboxes and games, basketballs, and other sports equipment. Needless to say, the kids were very excited about the new additions to their clubs!

We are now in the planning stages of the Arthur Lambert 3-on-3 basketball tournament, scheduled for March 2009. This event will benefit the volunteer summer lunch programs for area camps and our local food pantries. This program serves more than 150 children, each day, that are attending local camps and in low-income areas. Together we have assembled a great team of volunteers and achieved much success. In such economic hard times, with so many people in need, it is important we continue our eff orts. Best Wishes, Dennis Zilembo President Good Neighbor Association
