Town Meeting adds members to precinct 9

Shrewsbury – The number of Town Meeting members representing Shrewsbury's ninth precinct has increased by three following a vote at the Feb. 10 Special Town Meeting.

The Town Clerk is required by law to provide the Board of Selectmen with the number of residents living in the town's precincts every four years, based on the town's street listing, to make sure each precinct is properly represented at Town Meeting.

More than 550 people have moved into Precinct 9 over the past four years, requiring a Special Town Meeting vote to add three additional representatives prior to the upcoming town election in May.

With the change, Precincts 1, 2, 3 and 6 are each represented by 24 Town Meeting members. Precincts 4 and 5 have 27 Town Meeting members and Precincts 7, 8 and 9 each have 30 Town Meeting members.
