Marlborough – Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School's (AVRTHS) Casey Taillacq, a senior from Marlborough who is enrolled in the Marlborough-based school's Design and Visual Technologies Program, waits on a pitch during a recent Aztecs softball win over Hudson Catholic, 10-5.

AVRTHS, which, at 11-4, is headed to the Central Mass. Division 3 Softball Tournament, has been led off ensively all season by Nikole Soto, who not only leads the team, but the entire Colonial Athletic League (CAL), in batting with a .617 (29-for-47) average. Sam Kerrigan, batting .490 (25-for-51) is the CAL's fourth-leading hitter. Kate Shepherd has the third-highest batting average on the team, .455, while Erin Moore is the CAL's second-leading pitcher, thanks to a 3.61 earned-run average and an 11-4 mark.
