‘Mega Raffle ‘ team thanks community

To the Editor:

On behalf of the families whose children, relatives or friends attend the St. Michael Parish Schools in Hudson, MA, we thank the area businesses listed below, for selling "MEGA 2009" raffle tickets and/or helping us promote the raffle, to benefit Hudson Catholic High School and St. Michael School. We also thank your readers for their prayers and support.

Our sincere thanks go out to these Hudson businesses: Durand Chevrolet, Hudson Appliance Center, Robinson's Ace Hardware, Parente Service Center, Apple Country Market, Feeley Pool and Spa, Firehouse Seafood, Harvest Café, Horseshoe Pub, Lake Boone General Store, Mundial Travel, Rap's Auto Parts Supply, Silva's Bakery, Tedeschi's Food Shop, Vic's Barber Shop, Hudson Boys and Girls Club, Avidia Bank and Sign Logic.

Many thanks also to these Marlborough business supporters: Monti's Mini Market, Jake's, Sunny Side Café, Avidia Bank and Arthur Bergeron. In Maynard, thanks to Middlesex Savings Bank and Art and Soul. We also thank Rochelle Cowan at Clear Channel Channel Outdoor Boston, in Stoneham.

Due to lower-than-forecast sales, we reverted to "Plan B": a 50/50 raffle with one prize. (Plan A was a grand prize of $50,000 plus four smaller prizes.) The good news: About 250 tickets were sold in the last 24 hours of the raffle, and we gave away a grand prize of $37,303 on Saturday, May 30, at 3 p.m. in the Hudson Catholic High School gym. The winner was Kathy Kane of Hudson. Congratulations!

Thanks also to the Immaculate Heart of Mary High School Marching Band from Harvard, Mass. These talented teens entertained the crowd at the gym and provided the very important drum roll as the winner was announced.

Many thanks again to all the ticket buyers and sellers and to all supporters of Catholic education! The MEGA 2009 Team Louise Carroll, Tracy Wesinger, Almerinda Andrade and Kathy Tamburri St. Michael Parish Schools Hudson
