Local students are AP Scholars

SHREWSBURY – Local students were among the 131 boys named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars this year at Saint John’s High School. They include the following students from Marlborough: Oliver L. AP Scholars scored 3 (out of 5) or higher on three or more AP exams. AP Scholars with Honor scored 3 or higher on four or more AP exams, and had an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken. AP Scholars with Distinction scored 3 or higher on five or more AP exams, and had an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken. AP National Scholars scored 4 or higher on eight or more AP exams, and had an average score of at least 4.0 on all AP exams taken.

In 2010, 796 AP exams were taken by 352 Saint John’s students. The national average is 97 per school. More than threequarters of Saint John’s seniors have taken one or more AP courses; more than a quarter have taken six or more, and 12 percent have taken eight or more in their Saint John’s career. Saint John’s off ers AP courses in 24 diff erent subject areas.
