PJ Casello awarded rank of Eagle Scout

Westborough – Boy Scout Troop 100 awarded the rank of Eagle Scout to P. J. Casello Nov. 27. The ceremony was held at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough. The rank of Eagle is scouting’s highest rank.

For his Eagle Project, Casello led a team of volunteers to create over 50 blankets for the American Red Cross in Worcester. Within a week of delivering the blankets to the Red Cross, they were put to use when an apartment fire in Worcester forced two families from their home. Casello and the team of volunteers he led worked in excess of 100 hours to complete the project. He raised all funds for the blanket materials for his project by writing letters to area businesses and civic groups and organizing a bottle drive.

P.J. is the son of Mary and Paul Casello Sr. of Westborough and is the brother of Jenna. Upon his high school graduation, he plans to attend college to study either mechanical or civil engineering.
