Westborough – While her stellar Westborough High School swimming sports career is over – she contributed to eight school records – senior Diana Zeng is just getting started. She has two academic scholarship offers from Northeastern and Babson, while MIT, UPenn, NYU and several schools in California are also in the mix.

Swim coach Bethany Bergemann said Zeng, captain of the team this year, has a fantastic personality and has been a great asset to the team for four years.

Zeng is also a laser-focused competitor. Ranked No. 1 in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle, she first broke the 50-yard record. Then, with no time to savor victory, hopped back into the pool and promptly broke the 100-yard record in her last swim meet.

“I look at sports and competition the same way I look at school or anything else I go into. I do not commit myself if I's not passionate about it. I think that's a huge deal as to why I can continue to get better,” Zeng said. “Succeeding in something or accomplishing a goal – that's great. But now, it's more than just succeeding, I have to enjoy and have fun with it.”

Zeng cited her family as her biggest influence and greatest supporters, with a special nod to her mother.

“She really handles things well and is able to balance everything.”
