Donald R. Walker Sr., 81Westborough – Donald R. Walker Sr., 81, died Wednesday June 29, 2011 after an illness. He was the husband of 57 years to Hannah (Ogg) Walker.

Born June 15, 1930 in Uxbridge, he was the son of the late Frank and Bertha (Carr) Walker and attended Westborough schools. At the age of 17, he joined the U. S. Navy during World War II and served his time aboard the USS New Jersey battlewagon during the Korean Conflict. He received a Good Conduct Medal and a medical discharge in 1953.

After the war, he worked at Bay State Abrasives in the Shipping Department until 1964. He then went to work for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as a circulation manager out of the Milford office, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, he worked as a crossing guard for the Westborough Public Schools.

He was a former Cub Scout Leader for Pack 100 in Westborough and was the president of the Brothers of the Brush in 1967.

In addition to Hannah, his wife of 57 years, he is survived by one son, Donald R. Walker Jr. and wife Debbie of Grafton; one daughter, Cheryl A. Grysell and husband Charles of Sutton; three grandchildren, Jonathan Walker and wife Jill, Jennifer Borghetti and husband Joeseph, and Justin Walker; one great-grandchild, Aiden Walker; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Andrew Scott Walker and brother of the late Frank Walker, Dorothy Burnham, Priscilla Clemence and Deborah Westling.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday July 6, at 10 a.m., in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
