Pasquale F. Grasso, 88Marlborough – Pasquale F. “Pat” Grasso, 88, died early Saturday morning July 23, 2011, after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Theresa (Lawrence) Grasso, to whom he was married for 65 years.

Born in Marlborough, the son of the late Ralph and Andonetta (Martino) Grasso, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He attended Marlborough public schools and later joined the United States Army, serving in World War II, and was part of the force that landed on Omaha Beach in the D Day invasion of Normandy, France.

After returning from the war and getting married, Mr. Grasso worked at the former General Motors in Framingham as a General Inspector for 35 years. Upon his retirement from GM he went to work doing maintenance for the sisters at Madonna Hall in Marlborough.

He was a member of the former Saint Ann's Church in Marlborough and a longtime member of the Italian American War Veterans Club. He was an avid sportsman, playing softball and basketball, regularly running well into his 70s, and coaching CYO basketball. He loved to spend summers in New Hampshire and winters in Florida, spent countless hours gardening and had a passion for singing. Above all else, he loved to spend time with his family and was an ever present figure is his grandchildren's lives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Pasquale Jr. and his wife Barbara of Randolph; his daughter, Susan Lefebvre and her husband Steven of Marlborough; his brothers, Andrew Grasso of Marlborough and John Grasso of Hudson; his sisters, Alice Dempsey of Marlborough, Tina Seymour of Marlborough and Anna DiAntionio of Marlborough; his grandchildren, David, Laura, Anthony, Stephanie and Nicole; his great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Joseph, and his sisters, Mary Scerra and Josephine Scerra.

His funeral will be held Wednesday July 27, at 12 p.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday morning, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service.
