Shrewsbury – Sally D. (DeLand) Holden of Prospect Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 in UMass/Memorial Medical Center, Worcester. Her husband, Raymond J. Holden, died in 2009.
She leaves a daughter, Susan R. Andriski and husband Stanley of Petersham; two sons, Raymond J. Holden and Jeffrey P. Holden, both of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Born in Ware, she was the daughter of Warren A. and Frances Estelle (Wheeler, Cummings) DeLand and step-daughter of Ernest W. Maynard. She graduated from North High School and Worcester Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing as a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Program.
Mrs. Holden worked many years at Worcester Hahnemann Hospital and worked in the medical offices of Michael Scricco MD and Louis Fazen MD until she retired in 1983.
She was a member of First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, Worcester Hahnemann Hospital Alumni Association, the Woman's Club of West Boylston, the Worcester Foundation Auxiliary, the Colonial Chapter AARP and Shrewsbury Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed traveling, crafts and wood carving.
Burial will be private. No services are planned. Howard C. Allen Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
