18 new members join American Legion Picard Post 234Northborough – Since July 2011, 18 new members have joined the American Legion's Vincent F. Picard Post 234. Joining the Post are 10 Vietnam veterans, five Persian Gulf veterans, and one veteran from each of the following – Korean War, Lebanon/Granada and one WWII (Merchant Marines).

The influx of these new members brings the war era Post #234 totals to 238. The war era breakdown is as follows: WWII – 37, Korean War- 57, Vietnam War – 112, Panama – 2, Lebanon/Granada – 13, and Persian Gulf – 20.

Member meetings are held at 11:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month. A meat/lobster raffle is held each Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Memorial Day committee is inviting all Northborough veterans to march with the Post Color Guard on May 28 in the town's annual parade. More information will be forthcoming later this spring.

The Picard Post 234 is requesting that other local veterans consider joining the largest U.S. Veterans” organization. Drop by the Post at 402 West Main St. and pick up a membership form or call the Post Service Officer, Gerard W. Bourque at 508-393-6382.
