The C.A. six tips of the day for March 29Region – Today is Thursday, March 29.

Born on this day in 1790 was the man whose unofficial title as the tenth President of the United States was “His Accidency.” John Tyler was elected to serve as William Harrison's vice president in 1841. When Harrison died after only month in office, Tyler assumed the presidency, becoming the first vice president to do so.

Tyler was not particularly popular with any other political leaders as he created animosity in his own party, the Whigs, as well as with the Democrats and Congress.

He was however quite popular with his family – he had eight children with his first wife and seven with his second.

Also born on this day was author Pearl Bailey (1918), Sam Walton, the founder of Sam's Club and Wal-Mart Stores (1918) and Cy Young, the great baseball legend (1867).

Here are six tips for the day –

1. Northborough residents and others who travel along busy Route 20 through the downtown area are going to have to unfortunately deal with traffic delays over the next year or so. Major renovations have already started in an attempt to improve the traffic flow in that area. It will get better and be worth it, Board of Selectmen Chair Jeff Amberson recently said, but it will be painful until it does.

2. Have you ever been tempted to start your own business? If so, perhaps you should check out this seminar that will be sponsored tomorrow, March 30, in Westborough by the Center for Women & Enterprise.

3. Daniel Chauvin's music is described as a blend of contemporary rock, country and bluegrass. You can see him perform for free on Saturday, March 31 as part of the Live Music Series at Tatnuck Bookseller. http://communityadvocate.com/2012/03/02/westborough-live-music-series-presents-daniel-chauvin/

4. Local history buffs may find this program about the history of the Wachusett Reservoir particularly fascinating on Saturday afternoon, March 31.

5. It's true that St. Patrick's Day has come and gone. But there's always a reason to celebrate Irish music and culture! Residents of all ages are invited to a presentation on Saturday morning, March 31 at the Marlborough Senior Center.
