Tomahawks take down Rangers
Northborough/Southborough – Algonquin Regional High School's (ARHS) John Friday (#13) is forced out at second base by Westborough High School's (WHS) Kevin Blackney during their game April 20 in Northborough. Algonquin hosted rival Westborough for their second meeting of the season. ARHS won the first game, 2-1 in extra innings.
WHS jumped on ARHS starter Matt Doyle for two runs in the first, but ARHS responded with four runs, helped by triples from Jim Temte and Vik Kozica. Doyle settled down and ARHS added three more in the second while WHS failed to score again until the fifth inning. ARHS head coach Neil Burke called in Luke Serra for two innings of strong relief, with Chris Strobel finishing out the ARHS victory, 7-4. With the win, ARHS goes to 4-1, while WHS falls to 2-4.
