Shrewsbury? Families started celebrating the 16th annual Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival with a free pancake breakfast, offered Sept. 29 at the Shrewsbury Sportsmen's Club. Afterward, kids ages 15 and under participated in a Fishing Derby at the club's pond. Everyone received a prize.

Also that morning, 92 runners and walkers were registered for the annual Spirit of Shrewsbury 5K Road Race and Fun Walk, which began and ended at Dean Park. Finishing first overall was Daniel Maselli, of Shrewsbury, in 19:13. The first-place female was Sarah Day, of Shrewsbury, finishing in 23:36. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Adelphi Council #4181, the race benefits the Shrewsbury Special Needs Program and Scholarship Fund.
