Westborough manufacturer EMSEAL receives sustainability certification

Westborough – EMSEAL Joint Systems, Ltd has been awarded official certification designating it as a Sustainable Business Leader from the Central Massachusetts Sustainable Business Leader Program™ (SBLP) at a Sept. 21 ceremony. President and CEO Lester Hensley accepted the award on behalf of the Westborough-based expansion joint manufacturing company. The certification completes a six-step program that began in January with EMSEAL successfully completing over 100% of the program's requirements for certification.

The SBLP is dedicated to “supporting locally owned businesses in improving their environmental business practices, reducing their carbon and environmental footprint, and saving money.” EMSEAL accomplished a number of measures to conserve energy and materials in accordance with the SBLP, including a company-wide installation of the latest energy-efficient lighting systems in its factories and corporate offices. It fully implemented a recycling system for its manufacturing and office waste materials, and also switched to cleaner, more environmentally-friendly chemicals both for outside lawn care and landscaping as well as interior facility and manufacturing equipment cleaning and maintenance.

EMSEAL, headquartered at its Bridle Lane facility, has established a long standing industry-wide reputation for manufacturing expansion joint and pre-formed sealant products that maintain thermal, acoustic and fire-ratings? while maintaining watertight expansion joint seals. An expanding list of successful product installations over the past 30 years include many nationally recognized venues which include stadiums, parking structures, highways, offices, hospitals, schools and other buildings in both new and retrofit construction.
