Marlborough – The Automotive Technology program at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School (AVRTHS) was recently named one of the top 25 finalists for the Tomorrow's Technician 2012 School of the Year. The competition is sponsored by O”Reilly Auto Parts and WIX Filters, and AVRTHS was one of 340 nominated entrants comprised of high schools, technical schools, and colleges.

The school stands to win prizes, tools, and, of course, further recognition for the school if they are chosen to move forward. Currently, there are several schools in each of four regions, which will be narrowed to four finalists sometime this month. In AVRTHS” region, Region Four, are schools and colleges from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire. AVRTHS is the only school from Massachusetts to be recognized in the top 25.

“Josh Morin and I are very proud of the work that our students do here at Assabet Valley,” said Paul Airoldi, lead instructor in the program, “and of the support we get from the School Committee and Administration. We'se submitted a video for the final portion of the competition, and are hoping to be named the top school in our region, and then in the nation. It would be quite an honor.”
