Region – Many homes throughout the area have had their power restored; however, that is no consolation to the thousands who are still waiting nearly 48 hours after Hurricane Sandy hit the region.
Officials in the six different municipalities in the C.A. readership area (the four Boros, Hudson and Shrewsbury) have all announced that Halloween will be allowed tonight. They are warning, of course, that families be cautious and use good judgment about following safety precautions when they allow their kids to go out trick or treating.
Here are the latest status updates from the municipalities:
Hudson – If you still need to report storm-related problems please report them directly to the responsible department.

???????? For basement pump-outs where electrical connections are in jeopardy of being compromised please call Hudson Fire at 978-562-3434.
Marlborough – The city has been in touch with National Grid on the number of outages remaining. To date, there are approximately 1900 customers still without power or about 10 percent of the city. We have been given the date of November 2nd as the “latest” date possible by which residents and businesses can expect full restoration however Mayor Vigeant is working to double the number of crews to speed up the cleanup and time of restoration.
Northborough – As of 8:30 a.m. this morning, National Grid reports that 1,001 of their 6,559 customers are still without power. Where outages have occurred due to tree limbs down on private property, it could be Friday before their power is restored.
Southborough ? The town's website is reporting the following streets are blocked or have limited access: ?Nichols @ Clemmons; Pine Hill @ #89; Oregon Road @ the Ashland line; 56-58 School Street and Burnett @ High Street.
Westborough – Approximately 140 customers are without power. ?Major areas without power are Lackey St., Phylmor Dr., Stratton Dr., Arrowhead Ln. . NGrid is working to remove trees on the lines at 29 Lackey St. and Chestnut St. at Ruggles St. and a downed wire on W. Main St. at John St.
