Volunteers needed for Southborough's Gobble Wobble

Southborough – Friends of the Southborough Recreation Department Inc. (FOSR) and the Southborough Recreation Department are sponsoring Southborough's sixth Annual Gobble Wobble. This family-friendly event draws more than one thousand participants each year, and includes a certified 5K road race, two-mile family walk and free kids fun run on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22. The event is held at the Trottier Middle School, 49 Parkerville Road. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. The kids fun run will follow the race, starting at 9:30 a.m. Three separate fun run races include children ages 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11.

Children need to pre-register and have a waiver signed by a parent to participate. The winning girl and boy in each heat will receive a turkey trophy, and all registered children will receive a medal and enjoy a free pass for a round of mini-golf at Trombetta's Farm.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners, with a total of $1,200 in winnings. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for the 5K race and walk. Pre-registered participants receive a long-sleeve T-shirt, individual size Table Talk Pie and bottled water provided by the British Beer Company. Coffee and breakfast items are provided by Dunkin” Donuts and Starbucks of Southborough.

This event is a fundraiser for FOSR, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. FOSR supports community health, togetherness and spirit by providing recreational activities, facilities and events.

Donations will be accepted for the Southborough Food Pantry and U.S. Troops overseas. For more information on the race, visit www.eventbrite.com.
