Marlborough firefighters battle early morning blaze

Marlborough – The Marlborough Fire Department has released this statement this morning:

Marlborough Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 89 Wagon Hill Road, in the Gulbankian Trailer Park early this morning.

The fire was reported via 911 call at 3:18 AM. Engine 1, Engine 3, Rescue 1 and Tower 1 responded, with Engine 2 responded as the Rapid Intervention Team. Car 1 also responded to the scene. The box was struck, recalling off duty personnel to staff the Department's reserve engines.

Engine 3 was the first piece of fire apparatus to arrive and reported that the resident of the home was out and that there was a heavy smoke condition coming from the front door area. The crew of Tower 1 vented the structure by breaking the windows in the fire area. Engine 3's crew quickly extinguished the fire. The area of the fire was overhauled to make sure that the fire was out.

There were no injuries reported.

The box was recalled at 4:59 AM, the last Marlborough Fire unit cleared the scene at 6:35 AM.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Marlborough Fire Department's Fire Investigation Unit.

This was the 5th structure fire the Marlborough Fire Department has responded to in the past 3 weeks.
