MV accident on Route 20 in Shrewsbury injures three

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Police Department has released a press statement about an motor vehicle accident that occurred today on Route 20:

On Thursday, December 6th, 2012 at approximately 11:00 A.M. the Shrewsbury Police responded to a two car motor vehicle accident located on Route 20 at the intersection at Valente Drive (Olde Shrewsbury Village Shopping Plaza). It appears that a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche operated by John Ford of Worcester, MA was traveling East on Rt. 20 when he attempted to turn left into the plaza. The other vehicle involved was a 2005 Subaru Legacy traveling West on Rt. 20 operated by Steven Diaz of Nashua, NH when the collision occurred.? As a result of the collision the Chevrolet Avalanche ended up on its roof. The Subaru briefly caught fire but was extinguished immediately.

Shrewsbury Police and Fire along with UMass Paramedics treated injured accident victims at the scene. Three parties were transported to UMass University Campus Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by Officer Richard H. Fiske, Shrewsbury Police Accident Reconstructionist.

  1. My daughter has swim at the Y right there so I’m there every Saturday. Absolutely need a light at this intersection. The rise in the road makes it nearly impossible to see oncoming traffic from either direction. Not to mention the Right Turn Only when leaving the Y only to attempt an illegal turn around in JJ’s parking lot.
    Terribly designed and sorely neglected, this needs to be a very high priority for the town before someone gets killed.
