Debra J. Hagen, 54

84

Debra J. Hagen, 54West Yarmouth – Debra J. Hagen, of West Yarmouth, formerly of Shrewsbury and Hopkinton, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 in her home, with her family gathered by her side. She was 54.

Debra was born in Norwood on May 6, 1958, a daughter of Albert Hagen and Janet (Connell) Lucier. She graduated from Medway High School, class of 1976, and earned a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University in 1981. She lived over 15 years in Hopkinton and later settled in Shrewsbury while her son attended St. John's High School.

It was her plan to retire permanently to her summer home in West Yarmouth that she did three weeks ago. Throughout her battle with cancer, she fought it with grace, courage, and dignity. She enjoyed this past Thanksgiving at her home in Shrewsbury on Prospect Street with family and friends around her table. In the truest sense of the word and spirit of the holiday, this past Thanksgiving afforded her an opportunity, perhaps even unspoken, to give thanks to and for the many people in her life. In the end it's what life is all about. Deb was so very much loved and she will be missed.

She loved interior design and had a natural talent and flare for decorating and rehabilitating homes. Real estate was her passion and the field in which she worked for so many years, most recently with Andrew Abu Real Estate.

Other interests included flowers and gardening; animals, especially her much loved Montana and Oliver; New England sports, the beach, most especially Gray's Beach in Yarmouthport; and, above all, the company of good friends and family.

Debra is predeceased by her step-father, Philip J. Luicer.

She leaves her husband, Judd F. Aschenbrand, and her son, Matthew Blaise Barrieau, both of West Yarmouth; her mother, Janet Lucier of Naples, Florida; her step-son, Christopher J. Aschenbrand of Haverhill; her siblings, James A. Hagen of West Roxbury and Nancy E. Maguire and her husband, John, of Norfolk; step-siblings, Patrick Lucier, Jocelyn Lucier, Jill Lucier, Janine Panachelli, and Philip Lucier; and her much loved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Debra's life by gathering Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St., Southborough, where her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Debra's memory with a contribution to the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St., Southborough, MA 01772 or The Beauty Foundation for Cancer Care, 68 White St., Ste. 113, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
