Westborough Police charge two with receiving stolen property

Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this afternoon:

As a result of the investigation into the recent car breaks in town, the Westborough Police Dept. were able to determine that several of the gift cards from Not Your Average Joe's, that had been stolen from a vehicle, had been used this week.

At 1:30 PM, today, Det. Sgt. Glenn McLeod located a 2004 Toyota that had been reported stolen this morning. The vehicle was parked in the parking lot of the closed Friendly's in front of Walmart. This is also a short distance from the Fountainhead Apartments and Not Your Average Joe's.

Shortly after this discovery, the Police received a call from the manager at the restaurant reporting that the same individuals were back using another gift card. The two suspects left the restaurant and entered 293 Turnpike Rd. which is at the Fountainhead Apartments. A short time later they were observed walking across Rte. 9 towards Target.

One of the suspects had one of the stolen gift cards in his pocket. He was identified as Damien R. Hughes, age 19 of 19 Nash St. Westborough. He was arrested for receiving stolen property. The 16 year old juvenile who was with Hughes was transported to his apartment where numerous pieces of property were discovered. The recovered property was similar to the items stolen in the car breaks over the weekend. They will be identified by the victims.

The juvenile was arrested for receiving stolen property and was booked at the PD. He was released to his father's custody for his appearance in Worcester Juvenile Court. Hughes is being held on a probation warrant for his appearance in WDC on Wednesday.
