Marlborough Community Cupboard adds evening hoursMarlborough – Services are once again expanding at the Marlborough Community Cupboard (MCC) with the addition of new evening hours on Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. This evening schedule is in addition to the MCC's normal Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. hours.

“We hope the new hours will better serve the increase in family members who are working during our day time hours, and yet still need our services,” Carol Phipps, the manager of the MCC said.

The number of those in need of food has increased by 100 percent at the Cupboard in the last year, officials said. In August it re-opened with a new efficient plan to better serve those residents needing assistance.

To qualify for assistance in the food pantry, customers need the following eligibility requirements: photo ID, income verification, confirmation of Marlborough residency and birth certificates for children.

The MCC is always in need of food or clothing donations. For those interested in holding a food or clothing drive, please contact Barbara LaGrenade, office coordinator, at the Cupboard and she can assist in the preparation, including donation pick up. Please note when making pantry donations, check to ensure expiration dates are current.? Volunteers are needed daily, Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9a.m.- 1p.m and Wednesday evenings from 5-7p.m. to assist with stocking shelves, unloading donations, sorting clothing, and clerical assistance.

The Marlborough Community Cupboard is a direct service of the United Way of Tri-County.
