National Day of Service at Hudson Community Garden, volunteers neededHudson – Hudson Community Garden needs your help with a winter cleanup of its property on Port Street, across from the Portuguese Club, planned for Sunday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. Organizers need helpers of all ages and skill levels willing to spend a half hour or hour at this volunteer day planned in conjunction with the White House's National Day of Service and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

If there is snow on the ground, participants will collect sticks, brush, and take down temporary fencing. If there is no snow, they will also be picking up trash that has blown in off the street. Spring is just around the corner, so the more volunteers can clean up now, the more time there will be to dedicate to cultivating plants and expanding the Food Pantry donation program as the colder months subside.

The weather is predicted to be good, but this event will be canceled if it is raining or below 30 degrees outside. Hot chocolate will be served. For more information, visit www.hudsoncommunitygarden.org.
