Marlborough – Lucy (Scontsas) O’Connor, 79, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, surrounded by her family and friends after a long period of failing health. She was the wife of Robert W. O’Connor II, to whom she was married for 54 years.

She was born in Groton, the daughter of the late Anthony and Gilberte (Cote) Scontsas, and moved to Marlborough with her husband in 1961.

Mrs. O’Connor was employed as a secretary for the city of Marlborough public schools. She worked in many of the schools, serving the longest, 35 years, at the Marlborough Middle School. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert W. O’Connor III and his wife Patricia Bursaw O’Connor of Hyannis; one daughter, Patty McGuire and her husband Bruce of Marlborough; one sister, Laurette Stevens of Belmont; two grandchildren, Mickey and Molly McGuire of Marlborough; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Friday, March 1, at 8:00 a.m., from the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough, followed by a funeral Mass, at 9:00 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St.? Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m.
