South Yarmouth – Carl C. Berquist, 73, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Westborough, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy E. (Broderick) Berquist.
Born in Newport, NH, he was the son of the late Morton and Mildred (Sweet) Berquist. He was educated in Westborough schools and was a 1957 graduate of Westborough High School. Following high school he served with the Army National Guard.
Carl worked briefly at Bay State Abrasives and then as a lineman for Massachusetts Electric Company.
He attended the Dennis Union Church and previously attended The Congregational Church of Westborough. He has been a resident of South Yarmouth since 2000 and was an avid golfer and gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Eric C. Berquist and his wife, Shelley, of Hoboken, NJ; one daughter, Jennifer E. Louloudes and her husband, Demetrios, of Clinton; one sister, Judith Berquist of Woodstock, CT; and four grandchildren, Jack and Lucy Berquist and Nicholas and Melina Louloudes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Friday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m., in The Congregational Church of Westborough, West Main Street. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Thursday, March 14, from 5 to 8 p.m.
