Obit Norman EddyNorthborough – Norman S. Eddy, 90, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at UMass/Memorial (University Campus) in Worcester after a short illness.

He leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Rose “Jean” Eddy; two sons, Allen Eddy and his wife Jodie of Duxbury and Michael Eddy and his wife Diane of Grafton; his daughter, Barbara Eddy of Northborough; five grandchildren, Meredith, Michael, Stephen, Joseph and Christine; one great-grandson, Myles; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Robert Eddy, and a sister, Muriel Baril.

Born and raised in Lake Linden, MI, son of Reuben and Eleanor (Thouin) Eddy, he lived in Northborough since 1956. He graduated from The Michigan College of Mining and Technology (Michigan Technological University) with a B.S. and M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a 1LT during WWII in the Asia Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Eddy began his career at Battelle Memorial Institute and retired from Wyman-Gordon Company in North Grafton in 1987 as Chief Metallurgist after 32 years.

He was a member of American Legion Post #234 of Northborough and a former usher at St. Bernadette Parish. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 3, at 10 a.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. The Most Reverend Bishop Paul Loverde of Arlington, Virginia, will preside. Burial with military honors will follow in Howard Street Cemetery in Northborough.
