Obit Robert CroninHudson – Robert F. Cronin, of Hudson, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret A. “Peggy” (Doyle) Cronin of Hudson.

Robert was born in Boston, son of the late Francis and Melina (Gautreau) Cronin. He was raised in Somerville, where he attended local schools and graduated from Somerville High School. He later attended Northeastern University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He spent a short time as an Insurance Investigator until becoming a Hudson Police Officer, serving the town of Hudson for 25 years until his retirement in the late 1990s. He was a firearms instructor while with the Police Department, and continued to be an instructor after his retirement.

Robert was a member of the Hudson Police Patrolman Association, the Massachusetts Police Association, U.S. Marine Corps Association, and American Legion of Hudson. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing golf with his friends, and cooking in his spare time. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his six loving grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Timothy Cronin and his wife Melissa of Hudson and Dennis Cronin and his wife Rebecca of Clinton. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Stephanie, Jacob, Gabriella, Daniel, Cameron, and Sean, and his niece, Diane Amoling and her family of Kennebunk, ME.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 3, at 9:00 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Tuesday, April 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
