Obit Cynthia ContiWestborough – Cynthia Elizabeth Conti, 87, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Charles Conti.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Mansell A. and Lillian M. (Berry) Simpson. She was educated in Braintree and was a 1943 graduate of Braintree High School. She has been a resident of Westborough since 2003, previously living in Longwood, Fla., Plymouth, and Weymouth.

Betty worked as a secretary at St. Peter's Church in Plymouth many years ago. She was a former member of St. Peter's Women's Club, the Gourmet Club, and the Newcomers Club. She also had served as a den mother and Girl Scout Leader.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, braiding rugs and making wedding cakes. At the Willows she was known as the “puzzle lady.”

Betty is survived by one daughter, Cheryl M. Volpe and her husband, John, of Grafton; four sons, C. Craig Conti and his wife, Linda, of Northborough, Clifford F. Conti and his wife, Joan, of Nashua, NH, Clark R. Conti and his wife, Roxy Wallace, of Charlton, and Chris P. Conti and his wife, Maria, of Bridgewater; a sister in law, Eleanor Simpson of N. Weymouth; a brother-in-law, Michael Conti and his wife, Ellen, of Swampscott; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Betty.” She was pre deceased by one brother, George Simpson, and two sisters, Viola Hirtle and Thelma Reed.

A prayer service will be held Monday, May 13, at 10:00 a.m., in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in the VA National Cemetery of Bourne will be private. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday, May 12, from 2 to 5 p.m.
