Obit Effie Grafton – Effie “Polly” A. (Palmer) Schenker, 90, died Friday, May 31, 2013 in UMass-Memorial Healthcare (University Campus) in Worcester after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her former husband Henry “Frank” Schenker.

She leaves three daughters, Beverly Picard and her husband Richard of Ormond Beach, FL, Ruth Powers of Uxbridge, and Carla Schenker and her companion Ed Salvidio of Worcester; two brothers, Clifford “Johnny” Palmer of Northborough and Hiram Palmer of Hawaii; her sister, Grace MacPhee of Paxton; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three daughters, Sue Roche, Judith Hall, and Paula Hochard, and her siblings, Wesley and Charles Palmer, and Muriel Ryan.

Born and raised in Northborough, she was the daughter of Willoughby and Nina (Harrington) Palmer. She lived in Grafton for more than 50 years before moving to Worcester a year ago.

Mrs. Schenker worked for Data General in Southborough as a Quality Assurance Inspector during the 1980s, until her retirement. Her family was her life!

A calling hour will be held Thursday, June 6, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. A brief service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Howard Street Cemetery of Northborough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America National Headquarters, 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
