Southborough-icon-for-CA-web-pageSouthborough – The Southborough Rotary Club announced that Peter Griggs, an accomplished guitarist and composer, will be performing at “Wine Down,” a winetasting, dessert and music benefit, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Church of St. Anne, 20 Boston Road.

Griggs recently performed more than 300 solo concerts throughout the U.S. and Europe. A native of New York City, he has been based in recent years in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Wine Down is a community-sponsored gathering to raise funds for the installation of an emergency generator at Colonial Gardens, Southborough's senior housing community. Electrical power outages are a major event at Colonial Gardens, requiring the intervention of the Southborough Police and Fire departments. The well-being of many of the residents is threatened when their medical devices cannot operate during an outage. The Southborough Rotary Club recently learned of this need and organized this event to help with the purchase of an emergency generator for the Colonial Gardens community center.

The event is supported by the donation of wine and provenance by Stony Brook Market and Sperry's Country Market and the use of St. Anne's parish hall. Rotary club members are donating their time and effort to organize this event and seniors at Colonial Gardens are providing homemade desserts to be served at the benefit.

To register for the event, visit southboroughrotary.eventbrite.com. The suggested donation is $25 per person and donations are tax deductible.
