ONorthborough ? Leo Bombara, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Marlborough Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He was 92.

He leaves his wife of 23 years, Francesca “Cessy” (Reed) Bombara; his daughter, Joan Johnson and her husband Bruce of Framingham; his son, Stephen Bombara and his wife Patricia of Ramsey, N.J.; his stepdaughter Jennifer Toth and her husband Tibor of Framingham; stepsons Thomas Cushing of Falls Church, Virginia and Christopher Cushing of Framingham; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rose (Coniglio) Bombara, and a daughter, Sandra Jenkins.

Born in Boston and raised in Boston's West End, he was the son of the late Orazio and Antonina (Auditore) Bombara. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and served in the U.S. navy during WWII.

Mr. Bombara was employed as a tool and die maker at the Boston Naval Ship Yard for 25 years until his retirement in 1974. From 1977-1985, he worked in the jet engines division of General Electric Corp. in Lynn. He most recently worked for Boston Scientific. He enjoyed woodworking in his retirement years.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Burial will be held privately.
