Sheriff's Annual Senior Picnic to be held Aug. 17

Shrewsbury – Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis has announced that this year's Sheriff's Annual Senior Picnic will be held at the Scandinavian Athletic Club (SAC PARK) in Shrewsbury, Saturday, Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event is open to all area senior citizens.

“As Sheriff, hosting the Annual Senior Picnic is one of the great highlights of the year. This year's Senior Picnic will be a wonderful fun filled day to give back to our seniors who given so much to our communities,” Evangelidis said.

Last year, close to 1,000 seniors enjoyed the festivities.

The picnic is sponsored by the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff's Association and includes donations by many local businesses. In addition to a traditional barbecue menu, the picnic will include complimentary bingo games, raffle prizes and entertainment by the J.P. Ellery Line Dancers. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, as space is limited in the pavilion area. The event is rain or shine.
