Northborough – One of the best-loved traditions of Applefest, the fireworks celebration, will be held Saturday evening, Sept. 21 at Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS). The show will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. and is provided by New Hampshire-based company, Atlas Fireworks.

Prior to the fireworks, a BBQ and Concert will be held on the school grounds. A variety of foods will be available for purchase by the Knights of Columbus and Northboro Babe Ruth League. Other attractions that will be available for families to enjoy include moonwalks, obstacle course, soccer for kids, shoot ?a puck hockey, face painting, pony rides, and the ARHS Robotics show. (Some events will charge a nominal fee.)

Popular local band (3MF) 3 Man Factor will also be performing a concert as well.

Michelle Gillespie, the Applefest committee chair, said the committee will be providing trolley buses to and from the fireworks from the following locations:

Peaslee Elementary School – Maple Street

Central One Federal Credit Union? – Maple Street

Chet's Diner – Main Street (Route 20)

Memorial Baseball Field – East Main Street

Trinity Church Parking Lot -? Hudson and Main Street

Town Hall Parking Lot? – Main Street

There will be no charge to ride on the cars, which will run on a continuous cycle from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. One of the cars will also be handicapped accessible.

Parking is allowed on any street in Northborough with the exception of Route 20 (no parking is allowed anywhere on that road). Parking will only be allowed on the even numbered side of the street and only on one side of cul-de-sacs. As always, no parking is allowed in front of fire hydrants, driveways or where “no parking” signs are already posted.

The Applefest Committee will be collecting $10.00 donations per car to help offset the cost of the fireworks.

No dogs, alcohol or back packs are allowed at the evening festivities.

Donations are still gratefully being accepted, Gillespie said, and may be mailed to: Applefest Inc., P.O. Box 216 Northborough, MA 01532.
