Entertainment, food, road race highlight annual Marlborough Heritage Festival

MarlboroughThe Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 18th annual Marlborough Heritage Festival Sunday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., downtown Main Street. The festival celebrates the city's rich heritage and cultural traditions, and is a day of fun for the entire family. General admission and parking are free.

“Marlborough has a rich heritage and cultural diversity. We are celebrating those qualities with the Heritage Festival. Throughout the day, we’re featuring cuisine, entertainment, and informational exhibits. It's a wonderful event for all ages,” said Susanne Morreale Leeber, CCE, president, and CEO of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The festival offers a day of ethnic entertainment and food, cultural displays, martial arts demonstrations, crafts, live music, and much more. There are also many activities for children, including face painting, balloon animals, and a special story hour. To accommodate visitors, Main Street will be blocked to motor vehicle traffic from Florence Street to Bolton Street. Exhibits and facilities are wheelchair accessible.

The popular Chili & Chowder Challenge returns this year with local restaurants and caterers battling it out to win top honors from a panel of judges and participating visitors. It begins at 12:30 p.m. and those wishing to taste and vote for their favorites can purchase tickets for $3 per person. Tickets go on sale the day of the event at 10 a.m. at City Hall Plaza.

Runners and spectators can arrive early for the Main Street Mile road race. The race is being held before the festival and starts at 9:45 a.m. at the corner of Broad and Lincoln streets.
