Obit Mary SimoneShrewsbury – Mary A. (Pasquale) Simone, of Shrewsbury passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, with her daughter by her side. She celebrated her 90th birthday Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.

Mary was born in Worcester, a daughter of Italian immigrants Anthony and Lena (Ciani) Pasquale. She grew up in Worcester, and in 1945 married the man who became her husband for the next 43 years, Alden B. Simone. Together they settled the Villa Road section of Shrewsbury to raise their family. She lived more than 65 years in Shrewsbury.

Mary's husband, Alden, passed away in 1988, and her son, Carl A. Simone, passed away in 2006. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Lynda Thompson and her husband Larry of Brockton; her daughter-in-law, Grace (DeMichele) Simone of Shrewsbury; a brother, Vincent Pasquale of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren she adored, Michael, Michele, Gina, and James; three great grandchildren, Joseph, Jenna and Wes; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her sister, Lucy Piccarelli, and brother, Larry Pasquale, also pre deceased her.

Mary was a member of St Anne's Church, and its senior group “Golden Age”; the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Golden Years; and Our Lady of Sorrows Society.

She and her husband loved to dance and were members of the Frohsinn Club and could regularly be seen on Saturday nights dancing with all their friends. She loved a good time, to travel, play bingo, and the many senior bus trips. She cherished her Italian heritage and passed it on to her children and grandchildren. Special occasions, holidays and just having her family together is what made her the happiest.

Mary's funeral was held Oct. 28 from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel of Worcester, with a Mass in St Anne's Church of Shrewsbury. Burial next to her husband was held at Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial remembrances in Mary's name can be made for pancreatic research to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.
