Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Westborough – Robert L. Arnold, 70, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 after an illness. He was the loving husband of Kathleen A. (Burton) Arnold.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Cedric and Mary (Jurga) Arnold. He was a graduate of Swampscott High School, where he played varsity football, basketball, and track and field. He went to Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H. before moving on to the Engineering School at the University of Maine at Orono, where he was an active member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.

Robert was a self-employed civil engineer in the power generation field, and was the president and founder of the successful engineering firm, Eco-Services. He also loved wine, golf, and good friends, and was one of the co-founders of the Brotherhood of the Pump, an engineering networking and social group he started with his best friend, John Kadas of Maryland.

He was a former member of the Medfield Lions Club and Dover Lodge AF & AM, and enjoyed gardening and boating. He generously supported the U.S. Olympic Ski Team, and other charities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kimberly T. Lanigan of Milford, Jason L. Arnold of Westborough, and Kaylin M. Arnold of Westborough; one sister, Deborah Parlin and her husband Arthur of Grafton; his in-laws, Stanley and Evelyn Burton of Natick; four brothers-in-law, Craig Burton, John Burton, Bruce Burton (deceased), and Robert Burton; and many nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 120 West Main St., Westborough.
