Westborough man killed in early morning crash

Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning regarding an early morning motor vehicle fatality:

On 1/5/14, at approximately 12:36 AM, the Westborough Police Department received a call for a two vehicle accident on Rte. 9 East in front Speedway Plaza. The arriving units located the two vehicles, one of which was a 01 Dodge Caravan which had rolled over. The operator of this vehicle was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Westborough Fire Department. This operator was identified as Pablo C. Salcedo of 15 Willow St. Westborough. He was pronounced deceased at the scene and was transported to the Medical Examiners Office. The other vehicles operator was identified as Srikrishnan Balasubramanian, age 31 of 185 Main St. Marlborough. He was operating a 08 Honda CRV. He was not injured.

The accident is being investigated by Off. Clifford Luce and other Officers from the CEMLEC accident reconstruction unit. It appears that the Salcedo vehicle was proceeding west on Rte.9 and he struck the sand filled barrels at the Speedway Plaza intersection. The vehicle then struck the jersey barrier rolling onto its side and then into the east bound lane where it collided with the Balasubramanian vehicle. The roadway was cleared at 7:00 AM.
