Shrewsbury Historical Society announces scholarships

Shrewsbury – As part of its outreach to the community, the Shrewsbury Historical Society is accepting applications for the following scholarships.

The Shrewsbury Historical Society Stephen Porter Scholarship in the amount of $500 is given annually to a high school senior in memory of Stephen Porter, a longtime society member who was actively involved in local history and the historic restoration and preservation of the District #5 Schoolhouse on the corner of Old Mill Road and West Main Street.

The Shrewsbury Historical Society Jean McDonald Graham Scholarship in the amount of $500 is given annually to a high school senior in memory of Jean McDonald Graham, a longtime society member who was involved with educating students about local history.

Application forms are available at shrewsburyhistoricalsociety.org and the high school guidance office. Completed applications are due Monday, March 31.
