Obit Isabella Campbell O'NeilNorthborough – Isabella (Campbell) O’Neil, 88, of Northborough, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Westborough.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James and Rachel (Anderson) Campbell and the wife of the late George O’Neil, who died in 2013.

She enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard after graduating from Arlington High School. She married in 1950 and went on to raise her family and work for the Newton Police Department. She later attended MGH's Shepard -Gill School of Practical Nursing and worked as a nurse at the Veteran's Hospital in Jamaica Plain before retiring in the late 1980's.

A resident of Newton, until moving to Northborough in 1996, she was an avid gardener who enjoyed painting and bird watching. She was the best mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law that anyone could wish for. She had been a devoted caregiver to her late husband throughout his illness.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas O’Neil of Northborough and David O’Neil and his wife Denise of Del Mar, Cal., and her daughters, Linda Ossing and her husband Michael and Gail Gelb and her husband Bruce, all of Marlborough. She was also the mother of the late James O’Neil. She is also survived by her brother, James Campbell and his wife Joanne of Arlington; her sisters, Martha Gott and her husband Kenneth of Chelmsford and Jean Butler of Arlington; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Kirsten, James, Scott, Benjamin, Jason, Kaylin, and Cameron; and six great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 9, from 1 – 4 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held Monday, March 10, at 11 a.m., at Howard Street Cemetery of Northborough.
