Marlborough – Doris M. (Walcott) Girouard, 91, of Marlborough, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Marlborough Hospital after a sudden illness. She was the wife of the late Donald K. Girouard, who died 2003.

She was born, raised, and educated in Marlborough the daughter of the late Raymond F. and Lillian E. (Ledoux) Walcott. She was a graduate of Marlborough High School and later worked as a fancy stitcher at Diamond Shoe in Marlborough for many years, and then worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as an assembler in the Power Supply Dept. for 12 years retiring in 1985.

Doris was a member of the former St. Mary's Church and its Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, bingo, painting, gardening, and cooking. She will be remembered as a soft-spoken gracious lady who loved her grandchildren.

She leaves her son, David R. Girouard and his wife Joyce of Wrentham; a sister, Jeannette Seymour of Marlborough; six grandchildren, Timothy, Heidi, Diane, Peter, Ellen, and Scott; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Kayla, Max, and Tyler. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Sheila Girouard of Hudson, and her loving caregiver, Patti. She was the mother of the late Kenneth D. “Popeye” Girouard of Hudson, who died in 2011, and the sister of Fleurette Connolly of Marlborough.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beach Street, Marlborough.
