Northborough—RenovoMD, a “medical aesthetics” practice that focuses on using science to enhance both beauty and wellness, offers a wide array of treatment options that are carefully customized to each individual patient.
“Our advantage is the ability to select from a lot of different technologies and treatments and combine them to achieve the best results,” said Dr. Jean M. Casello, owner of RenovoMD and its medical director, who started the company in 2008 after practicing internal medicine for 20 years.
“Since we have many different kinds of lasers as well as devices such as microneedles, we can choose the most effective one to use or combine them,” in contrast to practices with limited treatment options. “We have just upgraded all of our technology this year. I love the science of beauty and wellness. Everything we do here is based on medical science.”
Along with those options is the medical expertise Dr. Casello brings to the practice.
“We are a medical practice as well as an aesthetic practice. We’re not a spa or a salon. That’s the difference between us and many places offering skin and aesthetic treatments.
“I see every patient who comes in, and I can pick up any medical problems that might affect the procedures we offer or that should be referred to a specialist,” said Dr. Casello, who works full-time at the practice.
“I discuss the patient’s goals and concerns, and we come up with a customized treatment plan and a timeline that meets the patient’s needs. Since we have so many different technology options, we can develop a plan that fits the patient’s budget and schedule.”
RenovoMD features such cosmetic procedures as skin tightening and rejuvenation, fat removal, body sculpting and hair removal and hair restoration. It also offers acne treatment, tattoo removal, and other treatments. Customized skin care products are available.
“We serve ages from teens on up, men and women, and all skin types. We know that not every laser is appropriate for every skin type,” she noted.
RenovoMD has recently added some new treatments to its offerings.
Lutronic Infini is a treatment using microneedles plus heat energy to tighten skin by targeting the dermis layer below the surface skin to stimulate collagen to tighten skin and reduce wrinkles. Dr. Casello noted it is also effective for treating acne scaring.
Another new option is FemTouch, which uses a laser to rejuvenate the vagina, restoring lubrication, reducing dryness, and tightening without hormones. “It treats conditions that can occur after menopause or after breast cancer treatments and also treats urinary incontinence,” she said. “We get a number of referrals from gynecologists and primary care physicians.”
Dr. Casello is also enthusiastic about results from treatments with a patient’s own stem cells. “We can harvest undifferentiated stem cells from the patient’s own blood. When we inject those cells, the growth factor makes them form new cells of the same type they are injected next to.”
Injecting the stem cells next to collagen cells causes new collagen to grow and can make skin more elastic or reduce acne scars or stretch marks. Injecting them next to hair follicles can cause hair regeneration.
“There is no chance of rejection, and the body responds well because we are using the patient’s own cells to make whatever we need,” Dr. Casello said.
