Hudson – Margaret J. (Allard) MacDonald, a longtime resident of Hudson and Boynton Beach, Florida, died Friday, May 9, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold B. MacDonald, who died in 1999.

Margaret was born and raised in Cambridge, daughter of the late Leo and Catherine (McDonald) Allard. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Somerville High School.

Beside raising her family and caring for their home, Margaret spent many years investing in real estate locally. Over the past 20-plus years, she looked forward to spending the winter months at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, knitting, games shows, doing puzzles and playing cards or any games of chance. She always cherished the times she shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Diane McCarter and her husband Don of South Boston and Pamela Cooper of Hudson. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dorothy Plante and her husband Roland of Hudson and Jean Soucy and the late Emil Soucy of New Hampshire; her brother, Leo F. Allard of Florida; her four grandchildren, Brian McCarter of Allston, Michelle McCarter of South Boston, Katelyn Cooper and Jenah Cooper, both of Hudson, along with many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Jackson, William (Whitey) Allard, Barbara Robito and Donald Allard.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to noon, at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, followed by a service and celebration of Margaret's life. A gathering will take place at the Hudson Eagles, 271 Cox St., Hudson, after the service. Burial service will be held at a later date in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to Last Hope K9 Rescue, 71 Commercial St. #184, Boston, MA 02109. 501c3-addressed envelopes will be available at the funeral home on Saturday.
