Marlborough – The Marlborough Police Department K-9 unit shared this status on its Facebook page regarding the efforts of Officer Ken McKenzie and K9 partner “Kaiser,” along with members of the Hudson Police Department, which resulted in a suicidal woman being brought to safety:

On May 23rd, at approximately 1930 hrs, K9 Kaiser and Officer Mckenzie, assisted Hudson Police Dept. with a suicidal female who allegedly consumed three hundred unknown pills and was armed with a jagged piece of a broken mirror.

Upon arrival, Hudson officers established a solid perimeter and directed K9 Kaiser and Officer McKenzie to the last know location of this distraught female.

K9 Kaiser was able to ascertain her last location and tracked from the park out to and along the roadside where Kaiser showed great interest in a nearby hedge row. Kaiser was pulling hard in his harness and wanted to get into the bushes. Once Kaiser located an opening he darted into the bushes. Due to the thick bushes, Officer McKenzie held him back and bent down and forced his way into the bushes. Once Ofc. McKenzie exited the other side, he immediately observed a female curled up under the bushes holding onto a large jagged piece of a mirror. Officer McKenzie was able to remove this potential weapon.

Thanks to K9 Kaiser, the distraught female was located shortly after she fled her residence where time was critical due to her frame of mind, medication taken and possessing a weapon. The suicidal female was brought to the hospital for evaluation. Officer McKenzie and Kaiser wish this female a speedy recovery.

It should be noted, the success of this operation would not have been possible without the fast response of the Hudson Police Department and their scene management. Thank you to Sgt Vroom, Officers’ Donovan Hatstat and Veo ….. Well done gentlemen !!
