Westborough – A year after Westborough was named the top digital community in Massachusetts, the town has received another accolade – one of the top places in the country for families to call “home.”
According to a study commissioned by Family Circle magazine, Westborough came in first on a list of ten communities that were ranked by certain factors including population, household income, crime rate and financial stability.
Along with Onboard Informatics, a New York City research firm that provides real estate, demographic and other data, the magazine compiled a list of 4,200 cities and towns with populations between 10,000 and 150,000. From that list, nearly 1,400 localities having a high concentration of households with median incomes between $50,000 and $100,000 were selected.
The magazine then assessed criteria they deemed “family friendly” – ?affordable homes, quality schools, access to health care, green space, low crime rate and financial stability??”and ranked them from top to bottom. Family Circle then selected the 10 winners from among the highest-rated towns, with Westborough coming in first.
Westborough was the only New England community on the list. To read the article and see what other communities across the country were selected visit http://www.familycircle.com/family-fun/travel/best-towns-for-families-2014.
