Obit Nellie DeeShrewsbury – Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Nellie M. (Sacco) Dee, 91, a longtime Shrewsbury resident, died peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2014 in Beaumont of Westborough. Her husband of 55 years, Charles B. Dee, died in 2004.

Nellie leaves her two loving daughters, Kathleen Bonnici and her husband Philip and Janet Dee-Mulcahy and her husband Kevin Mulcahy, all of Shrewsbury. Nellie was a proud grandmother to Gina Moreira of Hudson, Sarah Mulcahy-Gamache of Auburn, Angela Bonnici of Manhattan, and Peter Charles Mulcahy of Boston, and two great-grandchildren, Angelina and Santino Moreira. She also leaves her two sisters, Mary Dorsey of Worcester and Carol Spiewak of Charlton, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Sacco, and three sisters, Madeline Harrington, Elizabeth Desimone, and Lousie Hassett.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Gaetano and Maria (Verile) Sacco, and lived in Worcester before moving to Shrewsbury over 50 years ago. She was a graduate of the David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School and also Ward's School of Business.

Nellie was a data entry supervisor at the UMass Medical Center for many years before she retired.

Nellie was a longtime communicant of the Church of Saint Mary in Shrewsbury. She was a member of the UMass Retirees Association and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association.

True to her Italian heritage she loved to cook, crochet, and, most of all, be with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a joy to be around and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Nellie's funeral will be held Tuesday, July 29 from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of Saint Mary, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Visitation with the family will be held Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment with her husband will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
