Shrewsbury man arrested for two alleged armed robberies of same shop

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Police Department released this statement this evening:

On July 31st 2014 (Thursday) at 12:18 PM an armed robbery occurred at Blue Coast Coffee located at #274 South Street in Shrewsbury. The suspect entered the shop armed with a knife and demanded the cashier give him the money in the register. The suspect attained the money and attempted to flee the store. Customers in the store then tackled the suspect and disarmed him. The customers held the suspect down until the Shrewsbury Police arrived and he was placed into custody. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

On July 27th 2014 (Sunday) at 10:24 AM the same shop was robbed and the suspect eluded police. No one was injured in this robbery also. As a result of the July 31st arrest the Shrewsbury Police investigation determined that the same suspect had committed both armed robberies and will be charged.? The suspect has no bail and will be held for arraignment at Westboro District Court on Friday.
