Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury native Jennifer Trudeau, daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth Trudeau, earned her PhD in economics from the University of New Hampshire (UNH).

After graduating from Shrewsbury High School in 2005, Trudeau received a BS degree, magna cum laude, in economics from Fairfield University in 2009. In 2010, she earned and a master's degree in economics from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. During this time, Trudeau received a full assistantship from UNH where she was a lecturer in the Economics Department of the Paul College while working toward her doctoral degree.

In addition to being a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon, Alpha Sigma Nu, Trudeau was also the recipient of the Award for Outstanding Masters Paper 2010 and the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award in 2012.

In 2013-14, she completed a dissertation year fellowship, a university-wide scholarship given to top PhD dissertation proposals. Her dissertation, “Essays on the Economics of Reproductive Behaviors and Health Outcomes” was defended successfully and her doctorate degree was conferred in May. Trudeau will be joining the faculty of Sacred Heart University as an assistant professor in economics.
